Burning Embers of Bitterness

Burning Embers of Bitterness

They say silence is golden
Until it has been stolen
By a greater silence
That comes directly
After the violence

This silence is not so golden
For it has been stolen
In the very act of violence
That tears through all hearts
This act sees only foes
Wanting to create woes

This act transcends all paths
That fills all wraths
In the darkness they are as wraiths
Blowing like leaves
Before the flame

See them wither
See them crumble
Never will they be humble
As they turn to ashes
Scattered before the pyre
Created by fire
Of burning hatred

See the embers
See it turn red
See it flicker
See it wither
See it glow
See it disappear
Within darkness cold

Watch, as the hand
Reaches within ashes
To scatter the just turned ashes
See it float away, high into the air
Watch it land somewhere near
Let the ember become embitter
Fused with the bitterness
That hisses as it touches

The act is yours
How will you react?
Another ember to be embitter
Or, does it end
Put aside by a calming balm?
